This decision making activity has been developed at Sacred Heart Catholic College, Crosby, near Waterloo. It is aimed at Year 8 Geography students although it could be used with other year groups. It links in quite well with Citizenship and Enterprise. It has taken two lessons plus homework time to complete.

The activity allows pupils to appreciate some of the real life problems facing Waterloo in Sierra Leone, where the Waterloo Partnership is working. Pupils need to consider the different problems facing people in Waterloo, Sierra Leone for their own improvement plan. With a limited budget they then have to decide what improvements they would pick from a range of possibilities. The final part involves completing a map showing the improvements and a written report that could be used to convince people that their plan will really aid development in Waterloo, Sierra Leone..
