Mission Statement - "Two Waterloos - one hope!"
Believing in the intrinsic value of each individual, the people of Waterloo, Merseyside and Waterloo, Sierra Leone commit themselves to one another.
In a partnership created in June 2005, the two Waterloos seek to:
- promote the building up of community in Waterloo, Merseyside and Waterloo, Sierra Leone;
- safeguard the dignity of persons;
- support those struggling to achieve basic human rights
The Waterloo Partnership will:
- bring together people of the communities in the two Waterloos to work for the good of all;
- develop effective systems of communicating within and between the two communities;
- increase knowledge and understanding about the people from the two Waterloos;
- establish and support links between specific individuals, groups and individuals in Waterloo, Merseyside and their appropriate opposite partner in Waterloo, Sierra Leone;
- identify and harness the skills and efforts of those in both communities willing to support the partnership's goals;
- initiate and oversee projects, as and when required, which will improve education, health, sanitation and employment;
- raise funds to support the work of the partnership.
The work of the Waterloo Partnership will be managed by two communities, from each of the respective Waterloos, which will reflect local people, expertise and leadership.
